Jon Cooksey
Bio

Jon is a writer/producer for TV and movies, living in Vancouver. He’s currently working as a showrunner on Season 2 of “The Best Years”, airing on The N in the US and Global in Canada. He’s also in development on scripts for a new drama series based on the Marvel comic “Moon Knight”, as well as two other action-comedy pilots. On the features side, Jon is writing, directing and producing a theatrical eco-comedy called “How to Boil a Frog”, so as to save civilization and assure a continued supply of pizza for his daughter.

He’s worked in all areas of film and television, including comedy, drama, family and animation. His previous series was “The Collector”, which he co-created with his wife Ali Matheson for CHUM in Canada, and which they ran as executive producers and head writers. Before that, he and Ali were the showrunners on “So Weird”, a half-hour drama in the vein of “The X Files”, for The Disney Channel (Family Channel in Canada). In addition, Jon & Ali have worked on a number of TV projects jointly and separately, including pilots for CBC, Comedy Central and FX. As a writer, Jon has won Humanitas, Gemini and Cable Ace awards, and been nominated for a prime-time Emmy. “The Collector” also won a Leo Award for Best Series, as well as numerous other awards. A native of Los Angeles, Jon had a long career in Hollywood before moving to Vancouver; he became a dual citizen in July, 2003.
