VPOE is working with NGO’s, foundations, citizens' groups and the media to build awareness of the imminent peak oil crisis and its potential effects on the metro Vancouver area. They are currently in the planning stages of a Vancouver Peak Oil Task Force and a Vancouver Food Security conference to be held in Spring 2008.

Saw this one linked through comments on TOD and was impressed with its simplicity and clear presentation. The numbers speak for themselves.

Here's a little factoid that sure to turn a few heads;

The largest oil field in the world is Ghawar in KSA (Kingdom of Saudia Arabia). The second largest is Mexico's Cantrell located in the Gulf of Mexico; and, the production decline of this field fell 36% from 2007 to 2008 with secondary and tertiary extraction methods being used.

Still not impressed? By approximately 2015 the world is going to have to find the equivalent of one Saudi Arabia per year (9 million barrels per day) to keep up with production declines.
