Last night we had a packed house at the Ukrainian Hall, for the first event sponsored by the Vancouver Peak Oil executive. This was great step in getting the ball rolling in our city and I would like to thank everyone who made this happen. Not only did many concerned citizens showed up for the screening and panel discussion, but a little bit of media was generated due to our effort.

The Tyee (a great indy online paper) wrote a nice review of ‘End of Suburbia’ and on the corporate media side, the Vancouver Sun’s Barbara Yaffe published a couple of Peak Oil stories in the past week alone.

With that said, we need to capitalize on this momentum and get the word out. This summer will surely see a spike in gasoline prices and we must be prepared to help people make the connection with Peak Oil.

A few ideas on how to keep this discussion going:

  1. Show ‘End of Suburbia’ to your friends and family.
  2. Join the Vancouver Peak Oil Meetup group.
  3. Write to your news paper and tell them there is a connection between Peak Oil and rising food and energy costs.

Those are just a few, but we need more ideas and energetic people to see them through. Again thanks to all who attended and stay tuned for the next VPOE event.

Hello, I was at the April 11 Movie Night: End of Suburbia Followed by Panel Discussion.

I have seen the show before and many of the shows on this topic. I did not find the panel discussion to be very helpful. We have six years and then what. The underlying message seemed to be we are so out of time that there is not much we can do but watch it all unfold and hope it won’t be as bad as we imagine it could get. But when you make the prediction that the earth is about 4 billion people over populated for real sustainability, well that’s difficult not to imagine major trauma as we go through a major correction.

I realize we are looking for practical pragmatic socially sustainable economic models to meet the coming crash, crunch, realization, and it may not at first seem like something along the spiritual is a tangible useful concept to promote as a model that will help us in this unfolding physical time of need. But I believe we have barely touched the surface of what the spiritual really is and how it can be of pragmatic use with tangible results.

There is an underlying principle, just like wireless technology sends power and information, knowledge, imbedded, encoded in invisible micro waves which travel everywhere right before our very eyes, the complete resource of the internet right in front of us, but we can’t see it or access it with out the right interface.

We do not need to know how the cell technology works to be able to use it. Neither do we need to completely understand the nature of the spirit to make use of it. But with wireless we do need to make use of the interface. There is also an interface for the soul to the spirit, if we make use of it, it will reveal great hidden mysteries.

The spirit of creation is omnipresent, everywhere, being everywhere it does not have to move for where would it move to it is already there. Therefore it dwells in a dynamic living stillness, and it is in stillness that we can connect with this incredible resource.

Understanding the full power and art of meditation.
    Stillness is the interface.

There is of course more to this and we do not have to understand the whole thing but it certainly helps to understand there is a great benefit in undertaking the practice of the interface, to connect with the invisible yet tangible resource of knowledge and power.

The meek will inherit the earth. A well trained and disciplined Arabian horse is referred to as meek. The meek therefore are the well trained and disciplined.
The training and the discipline is meditation, interfacing with the higher power of the spirit. This then is what manifests the spirit upon the earth plane as it unfolds through us.
