Alright Justin, got a copy of The End Suburbia. I fell down this rabbit hole over a year ago. Its why I’m back in BC now. Most think I’m nuts for moving away from Florida and coming back to the GWN (Great White North). Florida is screwed without A/C - and there is more.
I read The Oil Drum on a near daily basis now. What a wealth of information! Been on a dialogue with Richard Balfour. I’ve been working on run of river and bioenergy projects in BC. Actually, some of the major ones now that I think of it - go figure?
I’ll share and anecdote with you. I was at the BC Power Conference at the end of January. I had my doubts about the validity of the inaugural event, but the movers and shakers of the BC energy scene were there. During the Q&A of Bev Van -er what’s her name executive of BC Hydro key note speech I asked did BCH’s projections include the switching of fossil fuel energy usage onto the grid. The immediate look was a deer in the head lights. Conclusion, no BCH has not accounted for a movement of fossil fueled energy uses onto the grid.
I can guarantee the hay flew the next day and you may see some of this realization being reflected in current policy statements by the government. That’s all it takes Bucko, just a whisper in the ear of someone competent to start the shit flying.
Looking forward to working with the VPOE

BTW, I’m sure I’m persona non grata at BCH now
