I was at the Peak Oil conference in Houston doing interviews — hope to have a bunch of video from that up on the How to Boil a Frog website (http://www.howtoboilafrog.com) in a week or two. In the meantime, there are pdf’s of most of the ASPO speakers’ powerpoint presentations at http://www.aspousa.org/proceedings/houston/presentations/ — see in particular the one by Matt Simmons on Thursday. To go along with this, there are detailed notes on almost all of the presentations at http://www.getreallist.com/resources/ASPO_Houston_10-07_cnelder.pdf - an instant education on the current facts. Suffice to say that even the people who have been following this for 20+ years were dazed by what they heard. And yes, they suffer the same cognitive dissonance as everyone else who follows this story — the Mayor of Houston was there, saying this is real and happening; T Boone Pickens (billionaire oilman) was there, saying oil has peaked; oil hit $90 a barrel — and there wasn’t a word about the conference in the Houston paper, much less anywhere else.
